We were engaged by Wind River, an international high tech firm to redesign their Ottawa facility. The project consisted of a total of approximately 4,000 M2 on two floors. Although there was still a requirement to retain a fairly high number of closed offices, the design incorporated some progressive elements, such as lower panels for open workstations, flexible closed office furniture arrangements to allow for meetings, and collaboration furniture settings located in the open office space to allow for impromptu discussions, and as a way to provide a transition zone between teams. A large employee café with banquette seating, café tables and bar height seating at the kitchen island is located right at the entry point to the office space, making it a hub for meeting people and sharing ideas.
