Chmiel Architects was engaged to reimagine LaFramboise Hall for Collège Boréal’s new Ottawa Campus. This 12,500 sq. ft. building modernization project transforms a historic structure into a functional, future-ready post-secondary learning environment.

The design carefully preserves key architectural elements, including terrazzo flooring, tall windows, and soaring ceilings, while introducing modern infrastructure to support today’s academic needs. New mechanical and lighting systems, as well as new power distribution, were seamlessly integrated to bring the building up to current standards without compromising its heritage character.

Inside, the space includes a well-considered mix of classrooms, science labs, offices, and shared student amenities, including a bright and welcoming lounge. The result is a learning environment that respects the building’s past while meeting the evolving needs of Collège Boréal’s students and faculty.
